Fieldhead Campsite
IMPORTANT: Please note that as tenants of the National Park, we can NOT permit BBQs, fire pits or any burning of solid fuel. BBQs will get the bucket!
Fieldhead campsite is in the centre of Edale village at the foot of Kinder Scout and the start (or Southern end) of the Pennine way. Giving perfect access onto the fells for walkers and cyclists.
We are a small site tucked alongside the Peak District National Park Moorland Centre. Please note: we do NOT have electric hook-ups, and car parking is separate.
If walking and cycling is what your interested in, then we are the place for you. We are a quiet site that welcomes everyone that wants to experience the outdoors whether that be wild swimming, climbing, hill walking, mountain biking or just sitting outside reading a book to get away from it all.
There is limited signal and no wifi on site, so you can really escape from the hustle and bustle of outside world and holiday in peace.
Campsite Reception & Camping Fields
The campsite is located around the Moorland Centre in the centre of Edale. Please check in at reception when you arrive. Check-in is from 2pm to 8pm. Reception is located along the footpath to the left of the Moorland Centre.
We have a small hard standing car park on the right hand side as you enter the premises. Please note that there is no parking next to the pitches, however we do have a few wheelbarrows to help you move your kit to your pitch. We have very limited parking spaces, so please make sure your booking includes a car if you need a space. The pitch you have booked will say if it includes a vehicle or not but please get in touch if you have any queries.
Please note: NONE OF OUR PITCHES HAVE ELECTRIC. If your tent is 5 metres or over please make sure you add the 'Large Tent' extra to your booking, as we have limited space on site so can only accommodate a few tents of this size. If you do not book this option we may not have space for your tent.
'Grass Pitch & Car Parking Space' - tent pitch for up to five people, with one car parking space in our car park. Suitable for tents up to 5m in size, Large tents must be prebooked if 5m+ as we have limited availability, max size 6.5m. Minimum nights apply on Bank Holiday Weekends.
'Grass Pitch Only (No Car Parking Space)' - tent only pitch for up to five people, without a car parking space in our car park. Suitable for tents up to 5m in size, large tents must be prebooked if 5m+ as we have limited availability, max size 6.5m. Minimum nights apply on Bank Holiday Weekends.
'Hiker/Cyclist Pitch (No Car Parking Space)' - small backpacking tents only, up to 3 people, without a car parking space in our car park. Suitable for people walking or cycling. Max size 3.5m. One night stays are available.
Glamping Pods
New for Summer 2026 and Open All Season!
Our highly anticipated Glamping Pods are now open for bookings.
Enjoy a comfortable, weatherproof stay, with stunning views across to Mam Tor and the Great Ridge. Each pod is equipped with heating, lighting and power, sofa beds, and a handy kitchenette; fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle, plus all the crockery, cutlery and utensils you'll need.
They sleep up to three adults or a family of three. They're also dog-friendly! It’s the perfect blend of convenience and nature — no tent required, just arrive and unwind.

Campervans in the Low Season
Travelling by campervan? We may have space for you over the quieter months.
While we're a tent-pitch campsite for most of the year, we have more room in our car park outside the busy season, so we can welcome campervans and cars with roof tents. You'll be right in the centre of Edale, at the foot of Kinder Scout and the start of the Pennine Way.

Spaces are limited, so please get in touch before you travel to check availability

Suitable for small to large wheelbase campervans (up to 7m) and cars with roof tents. Large motorhomes over 7m in length, caravans and trailer tents can't be accommodated.

Check-in is from 2pm to 8pm at the campsite office.

Fires and BBQs aren't permitted anywhere on site, but gas stoves are fine

Bring 20 pence pieces for the shower meters or purchase shower tokens from the office

Our quiet time starts at 10pm and check-out is by 10am on day of departure (late check-out can be arranged)

We're a dog-friendly site, but they must be kept on a lead at all times

There's no wifi and very limited mobile signal

If you would like to organise an educational or DofE booking, please contact us at info@fieldheadcampsite.co.uk with some initial information about your booking.
If we have availability, we will send you a link to our enquriy form for you to complete. Once completed, we will send an invoice for the booking and make your reservation once payment has been made.

DofE bookings are very welcome but please contact us directly by email or phone. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate large unorganised groups without prior approval.
